Rotterdam Presenta (Dusseldorf)

The Rotterdam Presenta group consists of theatre makers, performers and researchers. Together with international partners from Belgium, France, Japan and the USA, among others, they work on further developing the formats performance and installation. In recent years they have staged music theatre plays as well as interventions and happenings in gallery spaces and museums. Their performances do not take the theatre space for a given, but rather design their own architectures. These theatre architectures can be fleeting or of light material, but they make a conscious decision about how to meet as spectators and performers in these plays.

Project description:

In Accident Exercises we would like to expose ourselves to the topic of the accident as an uncontrollable and at the same time inevitable moment. We try to track down the moment that is already over when we become aware of an accident: The moment of error, the crash. For this purpose we work with an installative setting in which accidents are provoked, collected and documented. Tried and tested accident situations, moments of falling bodies, bursting objects and collisions can be observed. We are interested in chain reactions of moving, falling, and detonating objects as well as yielding materials.
